Launch a Career in a Growing Industry

The technology sector continues to experience unprecedented demand for skilled workers, and BridgeWorks' Technology & Digital Skills program opens the door for returning citizens to enter this thriving field. This 12-week program provides hands-on training in IT support, help desk operations, coding fundamentals, and cybersecurity basics. Graduates earn industry-recognized CompTIA certifications and are prepared for entry-level roles that offer competitive wages and clear advancement pathways.


Program Overview

  • Duration: 12 weeks (Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM)
  • Cost: Free to all participants
  • Class Size: 20 participants per cohort
  • Placement Rate: 76% within 90 days of graduation
  • Average Starting Wage: $17.00/hour
  • New Cohorts: Launch every six weeks

Curriculum

Weeks 1-3: Computer Fundamentals & Hardware

Participants start with the foundational knowledge required for any technology career:

  • Computer hardware components, assembly, and troubleshooting
  • Operating system installation, configuration, and management (Windows, macOS, Linux basics)
  • Peripheral devices, drivers, and system maintenance
  • File management, cloud storage, and productivity software
  • Digital literacy and professional communication tools (email, collaboration platforms, ticketing systems)

Weeks 4-6: Networking & Connectivity

Building on hardware fundamentals, participants learn how computers communicate:

  • Network types, topologies, and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
  • Router and switch configuration basics
  • Wireless networking setup and security
  • Network troubleshooting methodologies
  • Introduction to virtualization and cloud computing concepts

Weeks 7-9: Coding Bootcamp & Cybersecurity Basics

Participants gain exposure to programming and security principles:

  • Coding Fundamentals -- Introduction to HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; building simple web pages; understanding how software applications work
  • Cybersecurity Awareness -- Threat identification, phishing recognition, password management, encryption basics, and security best practices
  • IT Support Best Practices -- Ticketing systems, documentation, escalation procedures, and customer service for technical roles

Weeks 10-12: Certification Prep & Career Launch

The final three weeks focus on exam readiness and employment preparation:

  • CompTIA A+ certification exam review and practice tests
  • CompTIA Network+ certification exam review and practice tests
  • Mock help desk simulations with timed troubleshooting scenarios
  • Resume and LinkedIn profile development for technology roles
  • Employer networking events with IT hiring managers from our partner companies
  • Individual career planning with a BridgeWorks career coach

Certifications Earned

  • CompTIA A+ -- The industry-standard certification for IT support professionals, recognized by employers worldwide
  • CompTIA Network+ -- Validates networking knowledge essential for help desk, network technician, and junior systems administrator roles
  • Google IT Support Professional Certificate -- An additional credential that strengthens your resume and demonstrates practical IT skills

Many of our graduates use these entry-level positions as launching pads for continued career growth. With experience and additional certifications, BridgeWorks tech graduates have advanced into roles such as systems administrator, network engineer, and cybersecurity analyst.

Who This Program Is For

This program is designed for returning citizens who are curious about technology and ready to invest 12 weeks in building a new skill set. No prior technology experience is required. If you can follow instructions, solve problems logically, and communicate clearly, you can succeed in this program.

Eligibility Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Returning citizen (involvement with the criminal justice system)
  • Able to commit to the full 12-week program schedule
  • Basic reading and math proficiency (assessment provided during enrollment)

Support During Training

  • Weekly stipend to help cover living expenses
  • Laptop provided for use during the program
  • Bus passes and transportation assistance
  • Access to housing referrals, childcare support, and legal aid services
  • One-on-one mentorship with an IT professional
  • Behavioral health support and peer counseling

  2. Attend a Tuesday orientation session at 10:00 AM (no appointment needed)
  3. Meet with an enrollment advisor to discuss your goals and assess your readiness
  4. Confirm enrollment and prepare for your cohort start date
