Our Commitment
BridgeWorks is committed to ensuring that our website and digital resources are accessible to all people, including individuals with disabilities. We believe that everyone deserves equal access to information about our programs, services, and opportunities. Accessibility is not an afterthought at BridgeWorks -- it is a fundamental part of how we serve our community.
We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at the AA level, as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines provide a framework for making web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, and neurological conditions.
Accessibility Features
Our website incorporates the following accessibility features:
Navigation and Structure
- Consistent, logical page structure with proper heading hierarchy
- Skip navigation links to allow keyboard users to bypass repetitive content
- Descriptive page titles and clear, meaningful link text
- Breadcrumb navigation to help users understand their location within the site
- A structured sitemap listing all pages for easy reference
Visual Design
- Sufficient color contrast ratios between text and background elements, meeting WCAG 2.1 AA minimum contrast requirements
- Text that can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality
- Content that does not rely solely on color to convey information
- Responsive design that adapts to different screen sizes and orientations
Images and Media
- Alternative text descriptions for all informational images
- Decorative images are properly marked so assistive technologies can ignore them
- Video content includes captions where available
- Audio content includes transcripts where available
Forms and Interactive Elements
- All form fields have associated labels that are programmatically connected
- Error messages are clearly identified and describe how to correct the issue
- Required fields are clearly indicated both visually and in the code
- Focus indicators are visible for keyboard navigation
Keyboard Accessibility
- All interactive elements (links, buttons, forms, navigation) are accessible via keyboard
- Logical tab order follows the visual layout of the page
- No keyboard traps -- users can navigate into and out of all page components
- Dropdown menus and interactive widgets are operable with keyboard controls
Assistive Technology Compatibility
Our website is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:
- Screen readers (including JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver)
- Screen magnification software
- Speech recognition software
- Alternative keyboard and switch input devices
- Browser-based accessibility tools and extensions
We test our website with multiple assistive technologies and browsers to identify and resolve compatibility issues.
Physical Facility Accessibility
The BridgeWorks Training Center at 1200 Opportunity Drive, Suite 400 is fully accessible:
- Ramp entry at the main entrance
- Elevators providing access to all floors
- ADA-compliant restrooms on every floor
- Accessible parking spaces in the lot behind the building
- Adjustable workstations in classrooms and computer labs
- Assistive listening devices available upon request for events and orientations
Accommodations for Program Participants
BridgeWorks provides reasonable accommodations for participants with disabilities in all of our programs. Accommodations may include:
- Modified training schedules or extended time for assessments
- Assistive technology and adaptive equipment
- Sign language interpreters or real-time captioning for classes and events
- Materials in alternative formats (large print, digital, audio)
- Accessible transportation assistance

Ongoing Efforts
Accessibility is an ongoing process. We continuously work to improve the accessibility of our website and services through:

- Training staff on accessibility standards and inclusive communication
- Monitoring and responding to user feedback about accessibility barriers
- Updating our website and digital resources to meet evolving accessibility standards
Known Limitations
While we strive for full accessibility, we acknowledge that some areas of our website may not yet fully conform to WCAG 2.1 AA standards. We are actively working to identify and address these gaps. If you encounter a specific accessibility barrier, we want to know about it so we can fix it.

We will acknowledge your feedback within two business days and work to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. If we cannot immediately fix the problem, we will provide the information you need in an accessible alternative format.
Formal Complaints
If you are not satisfied with our response to an accessibility concern, you may file a formal complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, or the applicable state agency responsible for disability rights enforcement.
